He could be a Buff Orpington but he is a little darker than a Buff Orpington should be. Its possible he is a cross as well.

A well bred BO rooster is supposed the be the color of a new penny. We are used to the washed out look of the hatchery stock that is common in the US.

I've raised Exhibition English Orpingtons for over 10 years and my males aren't that dark. Especially on the wing.

Currently knowing 0% of his backstory I'd be skeptical of saying he is a pure Buff Orrington with 100% certainty. He just doesn't strike me as pure.

He looks like a Buff Orpington to me. Where did you purchase him and was he labeled as one?

If you zoom in on the pic you can see white flecking in some of the hackle and saddle feathers. Also looks like some white lacing on his chest feathers.

Looks like an Orp to me....though he's awfully dark. Hatchery quality, perhaps?
