Hey guys, Can anyone tell me what this spot is on my turkey's neck? It wasn't there yesterday, but was this morning. My coop is very well ventilated and the humidity is good. It is cleaned twice a day and he has fresh shavings and straw (Standlee straw) each day. I live in the U.P. of MI, so he doesn't get to free-range for extended periods (with supervision and not with below zero temps/ wind chills) and he doesn't get wet outside. He has no drafts in the coop and windblocks in the run. He is my only bird, so no chance of it being a hickey 😇or fight mark. The rest of his face, snood, head and neck look great. It's not raised and not a scab. It's just flat. No other signs of anything off about him and he lets me touch it without problems. I do not put anything on his skin. Thank you so much for any advice. Merry Christmas!

It appears to be an injury whether from something biting it or a scrape on fencing.

As long as you don't provide supplemental heat, turkeys are very cold hardy. My turkeys roost outside in all kinds of weather including sub zero temperatures.

If you do provide supplemental heat, it prevents them from growing the feathers and down they need for the cold temperatures.

Thank you so much. I really appreciate the reassurance. It did look better today. I don't use heat lamps. He is like a fluff ball and I see more pin feathers sprouting all the time. The coop is insulated with 3 inch foam board and indoor vinyl wall siding. Merry Christmas. I feel a lot better. 🙂
