Can Anyone tell me what this thing is?

This thing, I'm assuming, got caught in the huge winds and crashed into the side of the house last night. We found it dead this morning.






Kind of looks like a dog or coyote got the back of it? Maybe that is what spooked it in the middle of the night?

I THINK it is a ruffed grouse.

I agree, looks like a Ruffed Grouse. Must have been some crazy winds to throw a bird around like that!! Wonder if an owl had it and it broke loose and smashed into the wall.
