can anything eat threw chickenwire?

raccons can chew and pull it. Other animals too. it is pretty flimsy and I would use something a little more heavy duty to protect against predators.

I don't think there are many things that can't get through chicken wire....except maybe chickens. Chicken wire is really not good. I would suggest hardwire cloth instead.

You'll see it said many times in the Predators area- chickewn wire is for keeping chickens in, it does nothing to keep predators out. I am an old lady, and I can bust through chicken wire bare handed. It's pretty much useless when it comes to protecting chickens.

Chicken wire is ONLY useful to keep CHICKENS in, or out of an area you want to keep them out. Nothing else. NOTHING else.

Hardware cloth is the anti-predator stuff to use.

ugh i feel like such an idiot! i spent the past 5days building a whole chickensrun and coop did it all w chickenwire and it isnt strong enough

!!! any one have a quick solution to fit this without taking it all apart? guess the chickens are sleeping in the basement tonite!

I am a newbie to chickens and have put chicken wire on my run. My question is, if I put hardware cloth around the bottom of the run and chicken wire up high would that be ok. Our chickens are only going to be in the run during the day and our property is entirely fenced in. We have never seen a racoon, fox etc. The only predator we have seen on a regular basis has been a owl. Our two labs do a good job of keeping anything out of the yard!
