Can brown eggs be candled?

Can brown eggs be candled? I've been reading about you all candling eggs and was just wondering if you can candle brown eggs?

Yese they can be candled at least most of them but it is much ahrder for me to see into mine so I always wait to discard until I am positive I can tell on white eggs at day 5 or 6 but usually wait longer usually day 10 or 14 on brown eggs.

I have buff orp eggs and the only way I could see anything was by placing a 250 watt halogen work lite in a card board box. I cut a whole just large enough so the egg wouldn't fall through and it works very well. Just make sure you unplug it right away, the heat could start the box on fire.

And I suppose what you need to see (not just sure what we are looking for yet, possibly veins?) will be seen in the part of the eggs sitting on top of the box? If you go to google and ask for egg candling pictures there are many. White eggs are much easier to candle. John I forgot the question, yes in the top of the box.

I've got Marans and welsummers and it's a challenge to candle their eggs if they're nice and dark like they should be. If you've never candled before I'd suggest a light brown egg or white one to start off with till you know what you're looking for.
