Can bunnies live in chicken coop with my chickens?

hi all,

We’ll be getting 2 bunnies shortly for my kids as 4H projects and I was planning on keeping them in the chicken run and build them their own little hutch within the run.

Stopped at my local Farm Supply to get things for the bunnies and they said it wasn’t a good idea. Now I don’t know what to do?

The reason I wanted them in there is my dogs don’t like other animals (3 big dogs), and the run is fully enclosed and safe. I have 11 chickens at the moment and the coop is about 40sq ft, and the run is about 140sq ft.

The top, bottom and sides are already fenced so I thought it would work.

Turning here for advice - what would you do? Think O can realistically keep the chickens and bunnies together?

Thanks so much!

how big are the bunnies? I have a rabbit hutch in the day pen, we used to have a rabbit in there, but after she passed it became a new nesting area. The bunny was as big as the chickens and they didn't mess with her.

I keep 2 Dutch bunnies in with my chickens and they do fine together. Their hutch is in the run but I let them out during the day and they hang with the chickens

Any way you do it either make a tray to catch their poop or do it so the chickens do not have to walk under it
