Can chicken wire be used for skirting around chicken run?

We're in the process of finishing up a chain-link dog run for the run attached to the shed for the coop. We put up the chain link, then 1/2" hardware cloth up 4 feet all around. My question is, will chicken wire work for the skirting around the run, or do I also need to use hardware cloth there?

We live in PNW and have seen coyotes, raccoons and a badger around, so I know the predators are there. Thanks

Definitely use the hardware cloth. Chicken wire won't keep anything out. Best of luck!

I agree! Hardware cloth would protect better than chicken wire.

Chicken wire or larger welded wire, well attached, would work as an apron to keep out big diggers.
Smaller animals will just climb up and go thru the chain link.

I'd vote hwc instead of chicken wire for apron, as mice and rats are also common pests and can very easily dig between the openings of chicken wire.
