Can Chickens drink emergen-c packs

I just saved an article from The Chicken Chicks web site with a recipe for homemade electrolytes. I'd give you a link but I'm new here and was told I couldn't do that.

Electrolytes aren't the issue at all; it's all about ventilation, shade, and cold water and cold treats. Also choosing breeds that handle heat better than others. How about a fan to move more air? Misting the roof, or hosing it off to cool it? Insulating the roof? Mary

If the OP (Original Poster) is still active here on BYC, would you mind sharing what you have learned since you posted this? Did you find a solution to your chicken-dying problem?

My hunch is it had to do with your ventilation or possibly you had the wrong breed(s) of chickens for your area. Or perhaps they were infected with some illness and the heat was the last straw.
