Can chickens drink too much?

I forgot to check the chicken water this morning, and when I got home it was empty. They are all super thirsty. I let them drink for a few minutes, and then I started wondering if they could drink too much at once. Is this something that I need to worry about? I currently have the water back out while I wait for a response. Can I put it back in or should I give them a break to digest what they have and then put it back in?

When I picked a couple of them up, the water just ran out of their beaks....

I'm such a bad chicken farmer, and I feel like I always make mistakes!

You can put it in. If they over drink it just comes back up out of their crop and it'll look like drool. If you pick them up while their crop is full of water it might cause them to regurgitate it so I wouldn't handle them for a little bit to give their crops a chance to empty out.

Thank you for the response. I never thought that something as simple as giving them water would make me second guess myself. I did give it back to them, and they happily drank their fill. I plan tomorrow to get them a bigger water container!
