My flock is feasting on a rotisserie chicken carcass as I type this....and loving every bite!
I've also given them lamb, beef and fish, yum!

Laughing to see this 3 and 1/2 year old thread spring back to life. I was a new chicken mama when I posted this and didn't know chickens will eat almost anything. My flock, which in the years since I started this thread this has expanded from 4 to 14, get lots of table scraps but never chicken. As much as they might enjoy it the mere thought grosses me out! Besides my dog appreciates getting the chicken.

As someone pointed out chickens are omniverous. As to cooked or uncooked mine catch mice when they have the chance, they eat them but I've never seen them cook one.

After we eat a roasted chicken and cook down the bones for stock, the carcass and whats left go to the chicken. They love it. I also will give them any left over meat that no one finishes. I once put a hip bone from a roast with marrow still in it. You can only imagine the chaos than followed to try and get the marrow. If you want a good laugh, spread the marrow out on a stick and watch them try and scrape it off. They know what is good.

I had left some chili too long in the fridge and so I threw that out in the yard and my oh my...the beans and beef were loved by all. So glad that I can give it to them instead of having it go to waste.

No worries about feeding them chicken. I wouldn't do raw though, in case it spreads a disease. But I always give them left over meat scraps~!!
