Can chickens eat grapes?

what do the potato skins do that they cant have them? j/w thanks

They can't digest them.
My chickens LOVE grapes..
You can feed them pretty much anything..
Most everything that is bad for chickens is bad for people.
also, don't feed them junk food, potato chips, raw eggs, etc.
Not too much bread either. It can impact their crop.
You may want to soak the bread in water before giving it to your chickens.

Ummmmmm..... regarding the meat question.... chickens are omnivorous. That means they also eat meat. There's nothing wrong with giving them meat, although I'd cook it first. (However, they usually don't spit the mice they catch and cook 'em first before scarfing them down.)

My chickens absolutely adore grapes, by the way. It's a major grape grab-n-chase game when I toss 'em in the run.

I respectively disagree--my chickens love meat scraps although we cut them into bite sizes. What do you think earthworms are if not meat?
Also raw eggs won't hurt them unless they are rotten but it is probably not a good idea to encourage this kind of a diet if you want eggs.
I agree on the potato and limiting bread, rolls etc although in moderation they are ok even dry--they break them up fairly well. If your definition of "junk food" is potato chips and candy/sugarcoated treats, yes. Popcorn is ok as are some corn or grain chips.

I read somewhere that you can't feed chickens meat..but I just did some research online once I saw your post..I guess wherever I read that was wrong! Wow, I could have been feeding my chickens more stuff..thanks!

Oh and by raw eggs I meant like egg yolk..straight from the egg. They can get in a habbit eating their own eggs. Yes, it is ok to feed them some bread, but not too much unless it is wet. I do mean junk food as potato chips, candy etc. I do feed my chickens popcorn every now & then as well.

That's the nice thing about having chickens they help you go green. We compost most of the vegetative waste that the birds can't eat but things like animal protein can't be composted goes to the birds. There has been times when we've had milk get to the point were it wasn't sour but not sweet either--wife pours it into an old pie plate and calls the birds, they love it.

how about chicks? they have just arrived and i am sitting here with a handful of grapes wondering whether or not to feed it to them

Chicks will like the grapes. You might need to cut them so they can get into them. they also love strawberries.

In regards to potato peels--yes, chickens can digest them. People say not to feed them because there is a toxin in GREEN potato peels (that humans shouldn't eat either, btw) but if they're not green, toss them out there. My hens don't really like them, but they won't hurt them.

Just gave my girls grapes for the first time (put it in their bowl of plain yogurt) and OMG they were a hoot when they found the grapes I never seen such a sight! Grapes will now be part of their treats - they went bonkers - love my girls!

I'm so glad this topic was here! I gave my girls some grapes for the first time, then thought maybe I should have looked up if that was okay first. They went nuts! Clucking and running around with bits of grape in their mouths. It was very comical. I'm going to feed them grapes more often if not simply for the entertainment factor.

Personally, I feed them anything and everything left over that I can. If it is something they shouldn't have, they tend to leave it alone. Some get overly concerned about the "toxic" list going around, but it's so broad that I have to ignore it.

My flock is so good at cleaning up scraps that I never have anything to compost! The pick clean the pork chop bones, eat the corn on the cob all the way down and leave watermelon peels as thin as tissue paper!

I haven't tried grapes yet!
