Can chickens eat the bugs found under logs/stuff

I have seen where people have made maggot dispensers with hanging cans or buckets with holes in bottom. Adding things food and scrapes for flies to lay eggs on making maggots. they fall and climb out the holes for birds to get.

Yes, but a rat that just died in the run *may* have been poisoned.

Totally understand that poisoned rat maggots would not be good. I was just saying how bugs and maggots are used to feed birds. I don't believe they are using poisoned rats in there dispensers couldn't tell you for sure. As for me I never use any kind of poison to kill anything around my birds as to easy for them to get exposed to it. No weed killers rat or mice poisons. Evan fertilizers on pastures except natural manures.

The rat is the concerning part, for sure. Creepy crawlies under logs, in general? Perfect chicken snacks!

I actually put partially rotted logs around my run just to create places for chicken snacks to congregate. I just give the logs a roll every few weeks and the flock comes running.
