Can chickens eat too much?

Yes, they have light bodies, so they can be flighty. Plus, somewhere in their background is Leghorn, for sure, so they can "get it on" if they want to. As they age, they'll be far less inclined to do the gymnastics, but until then, they can zip right over 5' things, if they've a mind to.

I just joined this site. I have been lurking for awhile. I am no chicken expert but I wanted to let you know that I have the same chickens as you. I got them a week before easter (that puts them at 21 weeks). I have one lady that is producing eggs. She started this week. Her comb and woddle (I think that is the technical names) are big and red (see picture on the day she laid her first egg). I have another lady that I got in the same batch that is not quite as developed. Her comb and woddle is still slightly small and pink. I saw online that when they get bright red combs and woddles they are getting ready to start laying. My girls also jump up onto my fence. I have had to pull anything away that they can use to jump up on to reach the top on the fence. I would anticipate you should be getting some eggs soon...

Lovely picture, should be a POW. The girls were singing the egg song this afternoon, though no eggs as of yet. There is a bit of honeysuckle growing over the fence and I had suspected that they were using it to aid their ascent. I'll be pulling/cutting honeysuckle tomorrow.

Here is a pic of my Golden Comet at 15 weeks. They do tend to be a bit smaller than some of the heavier breeds.

I bought some production pullets this year from a guy who just penned them in a pasture and fed about 50 girls a 1 lb coffe can of feed a day. They were small for their age and acted like they had never seen feed before. After a couple of weeks they settled down and eat like everybody else.
And yes they can fly well, one girl likes to sit on the run door and watch me fill the food and water, but never trys to fly out of the run anymore just hangs around with the old heavier girls.
I agree your girls look good it's just that some chickens grow faster than others

Wow, my 10 birds eat nearly that much in a day AND they free range a good bit and get loads of treats. Maybe I am overfeeding? XD

I wish you guys could see the smile on my face right now. I just got my very first egg. The more developed of the new pullets was pacing the run and going in and out of the nestboxes. Apparently she couldn't find a place in the yard that she liked well enough so she was frantically trying to escape. I scooped her up and placed her into the smaller coop/run by herself and she immediately ran into the nestbox and sat tight. I sat with her and watched for about 10 minutes and lo and behold AN EGG! No egg song, however. I picked up the perfectly formed little egg and walked ever so gingerly to the house, cradling it in both hands as if it were made of gold. Thanks for all of the helpful advice.
