Can chickens not eat for one day

They absolutely cannot go without Food and water for a day. Furthermore, be prepared to get in some exercise if you don’t have a way of heating their water supply; in these temps water will freeze quickly and your birds will dehydrate because they can’t drink ice. Fill up your supplies as much as possible, and check water often to ensure it isn’t frozen over. Also be sure to provide fresh bedding and ventilation to provide a sheltered area which isn’t humid. Frostbite and freezing to death are serious concerns.

All posts are true. A chicken can't go 24 hours without water and feed is the fuel for the fire keeping them warm.

When butchering chickens, they can go a day without food just to clear out the crop but I don't imagine you are going to be butchering tomorrow. I wouldn't fast them to clear the crop for butchering in this weather. They'll be quite uncomfortable in the meantime.

I just wanted to make sure. I won't let my chickens go without anything in fact I have curtains on the windows and doors and I keep the heat lamps on all the time so they stay warm. Thank you

Ventilation is more important than warmth.
Air exchange is critical.
Cutting off the ventilation will prevent the removal of moisture, dust, odors, ammonia, carbon dioxide and methane not to mention that adequate ventilation dilutes the airborne disease organisms in the air.
Adding heat increases the moisture carrying capacity of the air.
Moisture/humidity is your enemy in winter.

They have plenty of ventilation I made sure of that.

Thank you for checking and being concerned about the welfare of your chickens. As everyone has stated here, they definitely need food and water every day, especially in the cold. I know it's hard sometimes to go out in the frigid weather, but your flock needs you most of all in extreme weather conditions. The long cold walks to the coop always seem a little easier knowing that my inconvenience is literally keeping them alive. Bundle up well and be brave - you'll be okay!
