Can chicks get reinfected with cocci?

One of my 9 week old chicks was puffed up and not very active,her poop was a normal color but did seem to have a slimy texture.So,not knowing what else to do I started her on Coid to see if there would be any impovement.She already seems to be feeling better.I'm only treating her until I see a need to treat the others.When the chicks were a week old some had cocci,I read that once they had it wouldn't effect them again.I know she had it because the ones who did are stunted. I have one chick that is the same size as our 2 week old chicks.

There are 9 strains of Coccidiosis,so unfortunately an overload/outbreak can occur at any time. I always have a supply of Amprolium on hand just in case.

There can be a relapse after the coccidiostat Corid) has been withdrawn if there are still oocysts in the coop. And as Ten chicks said there are 9 strains, 7 of which are common, 3 of which are most found around chicken houses. So if there are more than 1 strain on your property or they go to another property they can be exposed. We can also bring those strains home on our shoes visiting the farm stores or another's chicken coop.

We've had rain for 5 straight days,so i guess that has made things worse.So they will be immune to the strain that they had?I will keep a very close eye on the others.
