Can ducks coexist with a red eared slider in a small pond?

I rescued a mutt drake who had the webbing of his feet eaten by Turtles - similiar if not RES. Ive seen ducklings dragged down and drowned or their legs broken by turtles. My thinking has always been turtles + ducks = X

I go to this one pond to see the ducks and there are SOO many red eared sliders. The pond is kind of big with around 20-30 ducks and they seem to get along fine. There are several types, mallards and domestic breeds, that people probably dumped off. They seem really healthy and great feathers for ducks at a public pond- they even have more males than females and none of the girls look like they have been picked on at all. The sliders are super intersting and not violent at all. During the day they sunbathe and we goo around picking them up to look at them more closely and they dont even flinch i doubt they would ever bite. Im pretty sure your ducks will be fine, especially if they have someone to look after them

I think if your pond was bigger, then it might be OK to have one or two as ling as your ducks are full grown. But, perhaps you can get the neglected slider and keep it in a large aquarium/terrarium inside.

If you don't have an established pond then it wouldn't work for you. Chlorine and Chloramine in tap water can irritate sliders so everytime you clean out the pond you would have to dechlorinate the water. That would get pretty expensive after a while. Duck poop in the water will also lead to ammonia build up. Your pond would also have to be set up in a way for your red eared slider to exit the pond to bask without the ducks interfering. It would be more work than it's worth. It is really nice of you wanting to save the turtle though
