Can Eggs Be a Healthy Breakfast Choice?

Yup but some of today's doctors are still stuck in the 60's. What they don't realize is that one's body needs cholesterol so if you don't get it in the diet it will manufacture it. Also there are some that think the presence of cholesterol in someone with heart problems is a result of the problem, not the cause. My DW has eaten 3 extra large eggs every day for 25 years and has low cholesterol--I refuse to have mine tested. Actually the same thing is true of fat--some studies have shown that lard is actually good for you. I have a friend that used to run a very large commercial egg farm that went out of business in the 60's primarily because of the cholesterol scare. He blamed it on the egg industry for not fighting the poor research that blamed eggs for the scare.

Better safe than sorry. I feed Countryside organic, no soy, no GMO. One of my friends has thyroid issues and can't have soy, she swears she feels a difference for the better now that she only eats the eggs she gets from me. So I believe the eggs are as good as what the chickens eat. And, as my family eat the eggs, I only give my chickens organic feed and let them free range in my organic garden. No herbicides or pesticides around.

That's how my grandparents lived. they never used any chemicals and lived into their nineties. Heavy cream, butter, good eggs, lots of organic veggies, which by the way, were called only veggies then.

My brother and I are both over 50. We both have to take medicine for high cholesterol. I eat eggs, real butter, and lard, and I smoke. He doesn't eat any of those things nor does he smoke. My cholesterol is lower than his. Go figure. And you KNOW if I have a heart attack they will tell me it's because I smoke. He's already had one.

If I had the money though, I'd definitely be eating and feeding my flock non-GMO everything. Sadly, it's just way too expensive. I don't care what "they" say, not enough is known about GMO to know if it really is dangerous or not. In fact, I've read some proof that for some it really is very harmful. Don't ask me to tell you where or who though, all I remember was that it was about GMO corn and kids with a sensitivity to something in it.
