I have recently been having fox's take my chickens. We are really careful but he seems to have been very sneaky about it! I have had 3 hens taken in the past week and it is really upsetting! We are currently planning to get some electric fence sorted soon and I am hoping that it will work. When the fox got in before he jumped straight over - we didn't have any electric.. Apparently once he has had a hit off of the electric once he won't go back for another and I am really hoping that this is true!
Another option is getting some geese. I have a few questions and concerns: obviously, they need to be friendly with the chickens and would they be able to share the hen coop or would they need to have their own? I would also like ones that will scare the fox off or will at least alert us but I don't want to be scared of them myself and have to take a stick out there with me everyone I let the chickens out!
I was wondering what you think about having electric fence, or geese, or whatever other ideas that you have used to deter mr. Fox. Any advice about geese would be really helpful, do we need more than 1? Thanks
