Is that a thing with Geese? I've installed galvanized fence.like chewing on galvanized metal or swallowing metal or paint bits that poses a significant risk.
Excellent, I assumed so, but I just wanted to be 100% sure. Thank you very much! No.
zinc is an important vitamin that supports their immune response, it’s too much zinc that can be an issue.
Some vitamins are water souable, C & B for example, which makes it very hard to overdose on, others aren’t and can more easily build up to toxic levels in the body.
The body can’t easily get rid of metals like zinc which becomes an issue if bits of metal or paint are swallowed, for birds as well as for mammals like us.
Dietary zinc, the amount that’s already in a typical poultry feed is no issue, it’s if they swallow excess quantities of zinc like chewing on galvanized metal or swallowing metal or paint bits that poses a significant risk.
Geese like to chew on everything unfortunatly, it may not be an issue or it could be, it’s hard to say, most of my geese don’t chew on fencing, but one of my girls does so if you have a fence/cage chewer you might need to keep an eye on any health issues. Is that a thing with Geese? I've installed galvanized fence.
