Can hens go without food during the night?

My girls are now 8.5 weeks old. They roost at night in the Forsham design chicken ark. Are chickens able to go through the night without food?

I currently have both food and water accesible during the night, but am wondering about whether they will need access to food at night.

If they are able to be without food, at what age could I begin?

They don't eat in the dark, they can't see very well in darkness.

They'll be fine without food overnight.

* I read an article recently after a feeding question that said with a full crop a chicken could go 24 hours without more food. I feed twice. breakfast and dinner, She goes to bed right after dinner, and though there is some food left, usually all she wants overnight is water.
