Can hens lay more then one egg a day??

my hens just started laying and I found 4 eggs under the same hen? I was told a hen can only lay one egg a day???

How many hens do you have total? You often find several eggs under one hen, or left behind in a nest that you see a hen hop out of - this isn't because that hen laid all of the eggs, it is because hens like to lay in nests where other birds have already laid, so they will hop in and add their egg to the collection. Your hen was just the last one into the nest of choice that day - as they wait to lay their egg, they are laying on the eggs already in the nest.
