Well I'm just wondering let's say I buy a finch can it free range with ny chicken will it imprint on my chicken will it transfer a diesease and in ur point of view do finches look like baby chicks

If you free range it it will probably fly away. No it will not imprint. Your chickens would more likely be the one to give it a disease that will kill it. And No they do not look like a chick to me.

As for the "free range", I can pretty much tell you that if you free range your finch, you might as well head to the store to get another. I would not put with chickens because I think disease would be an issue. More important, the establishment of the "pecking order" would most likely be fatal to a bird that size.

A finch is not like a larger parrot. They are not friendly in the same way and came be difficult to tame. Clipping wings will often just make them feel threatened and scared. Really, the best way to tame one is to get them young (After weaning) and handle them every day. It's not as easy as taming a parakeet or cockatiel, but it can be done if you are patient. Have you looked into other types of birds, if you are looking for something friendly?

And I don't know where to get a baby finch does petsmart sell them

You don't want a baby finch but a just weaned one. You may have to go to a breeder. Have you done enough research about finches? Finches typically like being with other finches, especially if you are not home all day. As far as taming it, food alone will not do it. You need to spend time with the bird. Interact with it, get it used to you. Food may help, but most of the time, finches will be too scared to even notice the food.

Really, if you want something to hold, a finch is not the way to go.

Petsmart usually has a variety of finches. You can also look for different breeders though specialty forums (like this one, all for chickens and gamebirds, only with finches!)

Please make sure you decide on the right breed before you buy. Do a lot of research so you have a lifelong companion you can grow with. If you go to the store and fall in love just by sight, you may be disappointed.

Another good choice for you to look into are Starlings. If you are in the US, it is legal to keep a starling, even if you rescue a baby from the wild. There are message boards like Starlingtalk and often times people are looking to rehome their birds. If you don't get a tiny baby you won't have to worry about feeding them every hour, and if they are bonded with people they will still bond with you as an adult. Starlings are very gregarious and if you take good care of them they will soak up your attention and talk to you.

Starlings are not typically sold in stores. You can also contact local wildlife rescues and express an interest in adopting tame/baby starlings they get in. They may not be able to help you or have enough help to hold a starling for you, but you can politely ask. Don't be upset if they say no for any reason. Wildlife rescues have a very difficult time staying open and helping birds.

I just want to say..........
JUST SAVE YOUR SELF TIME & GET A PARROT!!!!!!!!!
