can i do this?

i want to finish incubating some eggs that my broody is sitting on. She had 7 eggs, then 5, now this morning there are 4.
problem is, i don't know exactly what day these eggs are on so i don't know when to go on lockdown. I think that they are due to hatch sometime in the next 7 days. Any advice?

I've always read on here that somehow the mommas know which eggs are bad and kick them out of the nest. I've only had one hen go broody and she hatched all of the eggs she had, so I don't have any experience with it, but I've read it on here a lot. Maybe that's what's happened? I've never taken eggs from a broody to put in an incubator, so I can't help on that part, sorry.

they were good eggs, she's been eating them.

I would wait until you hear noise. That is when the mama goes into lock down. So, listen to your eggs

I would put them in the incubator the first sign of pip i stop turning or put in hatching tray,at least you can save the sgg from being ate.

I rescued the last 3 eggs and put them in the bator. Thanks so much for the advice regarding lockdown. The hen is sitting on some egg shaped rocks and I will give her the chicks back when (or if) they hatch.
