My Mama is in with the babies eating their food (med feed). She is now laying. Can I eat her eggs? How long do I have to wait after i switch her back to layer to I need to wait till i eat the eggs?

I am not sure since I never feed my broody and her baby medicated chick feed just let them eat the flock raiser and offed grit the baby did fine. I don't think it will be a problem eating the eggs its just a med to help build an immunity up for the chick not an antibiotic or anything like that.

I just read this same question somewhere on here. If the medication is for cocci, amprolium, then they said that it was ok to eat the eggs. There are a bunch of threads on here and I'm trying to find it for you. Good questions as I will be doing the same thing soon.

How long has it been since they hatched that the mommy is laying eggs already?

Medicated feed is fine .Only if you are adding medications do you have to worry about other hens eating it and you not eating the eggs.

I use Purina Medicated Starter/Grower and when the mama begins laying eggs, I eat the eggs. Have been doing it for years. I have not been sick or no other problems. Tastes the same to me.
