Here is the rundown. I was given three blue slate turkeys as chicks this spring. They were separate from my chickens and grew well. About a month or two ago, the hen died of what I self diagnosed as a respiratory infection ( from postings here). The toms continued to grow. I noticed the same symptoms on one Tom last week. Ruffled feathers, slow moving, runny, yellow poop and a general downward stance of the bird. I butchered them both today. The sick one did not smell good when I opened him up. Along the intestines was a dark growth of 4-5 inches and about 2-3 inches wide. The liver looked just ok, a bit off color and spotty. There was a great deal of liquid in him when I opened him up. The other bird's intestines looked great, so I was able to make a side by side comparison. So....Can I eat this bird??
