Can I feed a vanilla bean to my girls?

I made creme brulee and decided to cut up the used bean for my chickens but then I decided I'd better make sure it's safe!

Vanilla bean isn't toxic but like what @sourland ,said, 'Why?'....it's like candy to them and as such shouldn't or at least not much should be given to them.

They aren't cheap, so just thought I'd make the most of the vanilla bean
