can I feed bird seed to my birds?

I got some Bird seed from someone who thought my chickens will eat it, but I am reluctant to feed it to them, as I am not sure if it is good for them. Will the sunflower seeds in the feed be a problem?

They should not be a problem if your birds have access to plenty of grit.

I use bird seed as a treat I know that on snack list for chickens are sunflower seeds. So those should not be a problems I throw some out in the yard while they are out free ranging since a lot of the bugs are gone due to winter, they seem to love the bird seed and looking at it and scratch feed there seems to be the same things in it except for the sunflower seeds and in different amounts I think you would be okay as long as it is used as a treat instead of feed. you can also throw some around their pen if they don't get a chance to free range, seems to keep them busy and happy. well it does for mine at least.
