Can I feed chickens kefir grains?

I have lots extra, even after giving them away to anyone who will take them. I figure if chicken can eat yogurt, maybe they can eat kefir, too?

I know there are a lot of people that do feed it to their chickens and they haven't had a problem with it.

For people that don't know, kefir is a fermented product and the kefir grains aren't cerial grains, they are grain SHAPED particles. They are a starter for the fermentation process and also a product of the fermentation process. Milk was the traditional base for it, but non-milk bases are used now, too.

I haven't been in the recipe section of the forum in a long time. I wonder if there's a kefir thread buried in there? I know there's a lot of yogurt and cheese info in there.
