Can I feed egg shells to my chickens?

I wash eggshells and grind them in coffe grinder for rose bushes etc...
Seems as if when i gave shells yo hens they pecked attheirs and opened yhem up. Maybe if you grind them i y wouldbe ok.

i grind mine up in coffee grinder or blender after cooking dry in the microwave for 30+ seconds. i then just add it to their grain bin and mix it through.

I do the same, but eat some of it myself, 2-3 times a week in my smoothie. No better source of calcium for those of us who can not easily digest dairy.

A far as I know coffee only keeps chickens from falling asleep behind the wheel on long cross country trips.

However a food processor makes a nifty food mill for grinding small amounts of chicken feed.
