nope, give your chickens egg shells as often and as whole as you want them to be.
there is only one problem with feeding shells to your chickens, it might make them egg eaters.

Yes you can feed them egg shells as long as they are not reconisable because the chickens will eat there own eggs if they are! So just make sure you smash them up!

It is a good idea to bake them in an oven for 10 minutes as they may harbor bacteria ...once baked they are easier to crush...I use a pestle and mortar to crush them up and will often mix a little in with their feed...they love them!

You can offer them egg shells whenever you have some to dispose of...they will eat as much as they want/need...you can offer them in a separate dish to the feed..mine eat from dishes and also I put some into the feed.
