Can I feed my Chickens raw peanuts?

Welcome to BYC, Tracker.

Raw peanuts - I bet that's not a good choice.

Legumes have what the animal nutritionists call "antinutrients." These components of the seeds interfere with digestion, not only of the legume being fed but perhaps even of other foods in the ration.

Heat effectively neutralizes these antinutrients.

Yes , Peanuts would be great for your birds especially for the penned ones . Feed them sparringly as they should be used as a supplement . We used to use them for our racing pigeons , boy did it work !!!! it was like jet fuel !!
It would be real good for your layers and ground for chicks , now remember only use them as a small part of their ration - 15-20 parts grain and only one or one half part peanuts .

If you decide you don't want them just send them down my way

Yumm, raw peanuts. I throw them out in the yard occasionally. The crows, jays, squirrels, and chickens fight over them. The nice thing is that the chicken will clean up the shells.

Should I cook them first? What temp and for how long?

No you don't need to cook them first, unless YOU are going to eat them. I think they taste kind of like gasoline raw.

Imp-don't ask how I know what gasoline tastes like.
