Glad that you got your due.
As a small business owner we pay into our states fund every month. Your employer was just trying to get out of his obligation to you and the state.
There are legitimate concerns with unemployment compensation, but economic downturns are the owners onus. Get more business to keep everyone employed.

I just went through the same thing, except the guy lied in his initial interview so I appealed, I prayed that he would tell the truth, he did, it just contradicted his original statement and I won. He made such a fool of himself in the hearing he did not appeal.
