Ideal Poultry has a goose special this week, hatchery choice for $6.00 each (if you buy 8 or more). Could they survive in a cold barn (with heat lamps, of course)? It's pretty darn cold here (single digits or below). I was tempted, then thought better of it, then was reading on here of people in Alaska getting baby birds of various species to raise in unheated garages and such so I rethought my rethinking and now I just don't know. Geese are so expensive, I have held back from getting any, and this seems like a good deal...

The babies have to be WARM (95 to start) and DRY until they are fully feathered. Under the best of circumstances that is tricky. Heat lamp, dry bedding, kept dry while they are trying their best to keep it wet, and no draft. All that is possible and people manage to do it.

Not a very good time to start goslings.
Geese grow SO fast and you would
have to have plenty of room to expand as they grow plus and you
will have to keep them inside for at least another 2 months.
Your electric bill will bite from using heat lamps 24/7.
I'd wait if I were you.

I can ship you hatching eggs if you like. I've sent you a pm....

We have both white chinese and brown chinese. I really love the looks of both....Please pm me if you are interested.

Thanks and have a blessed day.
