So I have two 6 week old silkie chicks, but I have too many chickens already and want to sell them. But will my silkie hen be upset if I just get rid of them? She hasn't started laying yet and is still quite protected over them. HELP PLEASE!!
Thanks in advance!

I would wait until the hen starts to try and push them away so you don't take them and upset her.

She will be upset, but go ahead and sell one or all. She'll get over it in a few days. She'll scream in search of them for a while, but she'll deal with it. You can always just leave one with her, and she won't really notice.

I wouldn't sell them, it would be kind of mean. Wait until they get a little older.

I'd definitely be waiting until she no longer wanted to mother them. They're 6 weeks it shouldn't be toooo much longer...?

My Broddie's have taken the chicks to roost at 2 weeks old and stopped tending them. My latest batch of chicks went to the yard without a mother at 4 days old with the flock, they have been free with the flock since 6 days old. My Broddie that just lost her clutch was very upset for a few days. I would remove them from her, whether or not they were sold,,,,

Good luck!!

Thanks everyone!!
I think that I will just take one away and then wait until the other is a little older and then take that one away.
