Can I give Ivermectin 1% topically for scaly leg mites in Silkies?

Chemicals can sometimes be your only best defense, sounds like your going in the right path. Silkies can sometimes pose a real problem trying to get rid of pest in those fluffy hairy feathers. wishing you luck for a haelthy bird soon.

Thanks!!! I hope they get healthy too! I feel so bad for the one guy- he just can't kick them. I can't wait to scrub his feet and see healthy scales!!!

Of course this morning there is a 3rd egg!!!!

Another pullet just started laying right after the Ivermectin! It's like they know somehow! True it's only a tiny pullet egg, but I still hate to toss it. At least my dog will be happy!

And gosh, aren't those first eggs tiny and cute- especially bantam eggs. It's barely bigger than a quail egg... and she made quite the fuss laying it too. I went out and check twice thinking that there was some awful predator eating my chickens. Nope, just a new egglayer!

So I gave the Ivermectin and am very pleased with the progress of my most stricken roo. His feet look tons better, and he has a ton of new feathers! This could coincide of course with the end of a molt, but I think it may have been mites. His skin just on the back of the neck looked inflamed before, and he had broken feathers. I had used bag balm numerous times but it never really went away. So, in this case, medicine was the best choice!!! I am very glad he is doing so much better. Everyone looks happy, and I feel like I made a good decision! The coop is all clean and nice, and hopefully this problem will never get out of control again!!!!

I'm trying to find info on using ivermectin for my flock's scaly leg. What did you use? You mixed it their water? I can't find simplified instructions, and I'm afraid of ODing them or not using enough.

I used it to treat scaly leg mites on on one of mine. Which ivermectin do you want to use?
