Can I give my 7 week old chicks poultry grit?

I just give mine sand---a lot earlier than 7 weeks. I have a big dump truck load dropped off when I need it.

I have never bought any kind of grit from a store and I have raised 1000's and 1000's----many 1000's of chicks in my years.

my chicks are already outside so can't they eat the dirt out there without having to give them grit?

The poultry grit is big in size. My chickens are 10 weeks old. Can they manage it yet?
