I asked hubby to pick up parakeet grit and he brought home pellets? I guess He had a blond moment or something and brought home this 'ZuPreem Avian Maintenance Fruit Blend Flavor diet for parakeets' instead and I was wondering if I could give it to my layers as like a treat or something the protein is 14.0% if that helps lol I just hate to have to drive an hour and a half to return pet food. I don't see anything in the ingredients that look like it would hurt a chicken, it even has vitamins added to it. But I'm not sure, what do you guys think?

I was just curious because, well we don't have parakeets. Needed the grit for the cornish rocks we've got now.

I'd feed it to them too! I have also bought rabbit food for them from the local grocery store when I was in a pinch and I didn't want to drive an hour to get to the feed store. They loved it.

Mine like it
At first they would leave the neyger seed (black long) but now the like them too.
I did some research on the topic and I couldn't see any problems

oh they love it! and it can be pretty good for them as long as it isn't their sole ration. they will eat it, and they will probably love the millet!

go for it! mine like it a lot. i even give it to week old chicks when i let them out on nice days (only for 10 minutes, give or take)
