My turkey left the nest with 2 eggs still unhatched. When I picked one up I heard a peep and the shell has a small crack. I do not have an incubator. The only idea i can come up with is to put the egg in my bra! Ive had it in there for about an hour now, the tapping and peeping continues so its still alive :D

I admit I have never had turkeys and never hatched eggs, but I have learned a bit about hatching in general (decided I'm not ready). While you are keeping the egg warm, you may want to give this a read.

I'm not sure how long your turkey has been trying to hatch or why the mama gave up on it. It may be because something is wrong and it may need a little help. Hopefully some experienced hatchers can give you some advice. If you can candle it in a dark room or closet and get a picture I'm sure someone will be able to let you know if it looks normal and might hatch on its own or if there may be a problem. I will be watching in hopes of seeing a little on emerge in the next 24 hours! Good luck!

My oven has a drying setting so I put a wet towel on a plate, egg next to it, loose cover to hold moisture in, digital meat thermometer hanging in oven to take temp more accurately. I'm keeping temps from 96 to 100 trying to find the sweet spot by cracking the door. It's a rough set up but I can't even find my heating pad. There's nothing to take a pic of right now, just the initial cracks in the egg.

@ChirpnChick If you are interested in how we handled the situation, please see post # 11657 on the thread Hands on hatching and help. Good luck. Can you get a heating pad from neighbor or family member? :fl
ETA: Let us know how things go.

THank you Ursuline. Always live to learn new things . Not much progress that I can see but there’s still activity in the egg.

I assisted the little guy late that evening. He was last to hatch so I took a chance that he was ready and sure enough, everything was absorbed. His leg was swollen but he is still alive almost 48 hours later! Hanging out with his siblings (I have to take them from the hen because my dog likes to play with little turkeys). Leg is better since he hatched so I think he has a chance but I haven't seen him eat or drink so we'll see.
