can i have an aquarium thermometer in a brooder for chicks ?

I am not aware of any risk factors, but do not like the level of accuracy for most aquarium heaters. I seldom use thermometers in brooders. I make adjustments based on behavior of the chicks. Try to make so there is a thermal gradient in the brooder where chicks can adjust proximity to heat source as temperatures fluctuate and their needs change.

I use one of my thermometers I use when I smoke meat. I don't use it as the only source and watch the chicks. I just use it as ballpark figure.
