Can I have my chickens compost my donkey poo?

So I have 6 chickens that are not free rangers but wanna be! They live in AZ and we have lots of coyotes, owls and other predators. Just got two donkeys, wondering if I can let the chickens out in with the donks will they protect them? Can I put the donkey poop in the coop with straw and kitchen scrap for them to compost? Any advice is appreciated!

Depends on the donkeys, some will deliberately kill smaller animals including poultry. Acquaintance of mine lost a few ducks that way, one of their donkeys was stomping on them.

Otherwise letting the chickens scratch through the poop should be ok.
