Hey all,I have been raising coturnix quail for about a year now and finally have got the hang of them.I will be getting much more (about 20 or so) very soon and building a bigger pen for them for selling there eggs at some local farmers markets. This will take a lot of time and energy I realize so I am thinking I wont be raising bobwhites this summer but hopefully next summer.I am getting about $30 a week and saving for a really nice incubator now that the one I have seems to small for my plans.
But when next year does come and I have money saved for new building materials I was thinking I could build a pen in which there is a series of smaller cages up top were I can keep 2-4 trios of bobwhites in each separate cage .Then on the bottom have a full pen (no sections) were I can raise a colony of bobwhites for meat from the eggs that I hatched out from the trios on top.
Would this work? What type of bobwhite would be the best for meat?Whats better, eggs, chicks, or adults for starting? Thanks for any information you guys can give me
