Can I hug my chickens?

3 out 4 of mine just wait for me to sit down. Once I sit down they all climb in my lap and lay down. They actually enjoy getting pet.

I pet and handle mine daily, to get them used to being inspected and held in case they have health issues in the future. And I want the rooster to respect that I can do whatever to him at any time. They have this habit of beaking my hair and they often remove shavings off my clothes - it's almost affectionate. Or maybe they're just hoping it's food. But definitely no kissing, and I always wash my hands thoroughly after working with the chickens and their coop.

Why would anybody hug and kiss their chickens

I don't kiss my mille fleur bantams, but they love to be held and petted especially right before I put them away for the night.
