Can I keep chicks in a shed?

So I have a baby chick alone right now and more on the way but by the time they hatch the one right now will be grown and I don't feel comfortable keeping them together without me there so would it hurt them to put them in a shed a small one, would that be hot enough so I don't have to have a heat light or would it be too hot?
