Can I keep two male valley quail together if there aren’t any females in the pen?

So this summer I ordered 2 dozen valley quail eggs and hatched 2 chicks in the first dozzen and 5 in the second. Out of all 7 chicks only 2 survived to adulthood. The first chick was from the first dozen and is definitely a male. The second was from the second doezen and is starting to get its adult plumage and also looks like a male. I’ve read on byc that putting two males together can be bad news, but in all of these instances there have females in the present as well. Will two males fight if there aren’t any females around?
