Can I leave them for a day or two?

I had planned to pick up my chicks on Thursday. The breed we have been waiting for just came in. I completely forgot that this weekend is mother's day and I had also planned to drive 4 hours away to spend the weekend with my Mother. If I left food and water would the chicks be OK for the weekend? Should I take them with me? Planning on 6. Or should I just wait and order them online?

You should just wait. Full grown hens could be left like that, in a secure run, but chicks are delicate and much could go wrong.

What kind of chicks are they? If they are harder to get I would get them for sure and bring them with you or ask a friend just to check on them.

Yes, but expensive!!!

Do you have someone who can check in on them while you're away? If not, I would wait to get them. Chicks can die very quickly from common issues like pasty butt, and they're also more prone to soiling or knocking over their water.

Not a good idea to get baby chicks and take off .I wouldn't want you to come back home from celebrating mothers day to a brooder full of dead chicks.
