Can I make a call, or too soon?

Posted before about our six australorps. Two are definitely hens and have very small/pale combs and wattles. I'm still a little unsure on two of them that are kind of in between. I'm in particular really hoping this one is a hen because I love its colouring and it's really calm and sweet. Size wise it's in the middle.

We're hoping to send the roos away to a friend's farm ASAP so we can merge the flock. Chicks are almost 7 weeks. Thoughts?

The last pic is the one that's pretty much for sure a roo for comparison.

Here are our batch of BA at 7 weeks. We ordered 1 male and 3 females. Here, you can see the big difference between males and females. With your pics, I would guess female, but they look older than 7 weeks as compared to mine in this pic below.

If they are 7 weeks or a little younger, those are all cockerels.

It's all the same chick except for the last one - thanks for your vote! Sadly I think so too.

Thanks for the comparison, so helpful! Can definitely tell the difference. Our two that are pullets really look like yours. I see that one of your pullets has a slightly redder comb and face - this is why I'm still a little uncertain over our middle two that aren't as pronounced, but I think from the comments above most likely roos.

The girl in our pics above had a little residual red ink on her comb. Bc we had ordered a male and females, they had used blue ink (male) and red ink (females) to distinguish -and also bc we had ordered other black breed birds. Then my child decided to “refresh” the ink on the combs after a few weeks. So, you are noticing red ink!

Oh funny!! So sounds like I should consider my chicks with noticeable reddish combs and wattles roos then? Not typical at all to have females that show red shy of 7 weeks?

I'm actually leaning towards pullet on this one. I've had lots of girls grow some wattles early....these are small and pale. It seems that this one also has a feminine head too. Feathers are looking round, but its just a little early to judge on saddle or sickle feathers. Some things you can also look at is posture and behavior which a picture can't always show.
