My baby duck hatched today, baby chicks are due in a week to a week and a half. Can I put them together in the same brooder? My duck will be a week old with day old chicks. Right now my duck is lonely so I’m hoping this would work out?

Probably not, the duckling will be much larger and will most likely pick on the chicks and they will be so tiny. You'll be amazed at how fast ducklings grow. Give your duckling a safe mirror and a stuffed animal while in the brooder. Do you have more ducklings hatching? And if this is the only duckling you have maybe think about going and getting a couple more. Ducks and chickens do so much better if they have their own kind to hang out with and do ducky and chicken things with. They are flock animals.

There are often ducklings offered for adoption in the threads. Luckily since you only have the one you don't need to know gender to give him/her a companion. Also, you can Post your search including your city/state in the threads and someone may find you.

By some miracle are you in QC Canada? I don't see your info on your profile.
