Can I paint my chickens nails?

We had a rude awakening regarding painted nails and chickens when my niece came to stay.


Grape colored nails on the ends of small fingers = niece who no longer wants to feed the chickens

I tried to paint the toe nails of one that got her toe stuck in some hardware cloth, so I could identify her in the morning when I woke up...The little buggers ate every little speck off her nails. Maybe if I had done more than one coat, it would have been more likely to withstand the pecking, but I didn't want to risk putting a lot on then them eating it all off...

If you wanted do id recomend painting the color you want on your toes first and see if the other chickens peck at it if they dont then it should be fine
