Oh, those are all boys. I agree with you that they're not pure barred rock, though, otherwise they'd be lighter in color. They're black sex link cockerals, which look just like barred rock chicks at hatch. The funky feathers are called leakage--ie they have red leakage that will become more visible as they age.
