So here's the skinny: I have a 10 mos old Cochin cockerel I got from someone who lost all her hens to coyotes. He's been by himself because all I have are pullets. Or so I thought.
I now have a 5-6 week old Barred Rock cockerel. Can I safely introduce him to the Cochin cockerel? Supervised of course.

My thought is that the Cochin is so lonesome that he will befriend the little BR and hopefully they won't be a threat to one another when they are introduced to the 18 pullets. They
will eventually be housed in a 9 x 9 coop with an attached 10 x 24 run, having free range time a couple of hours a day.

Now I'm going to sneak in another question: I have separated out two pullets that have some deformities and I want them to get plenty to eat and drink during this crucial part of
their development. I can put them back with the others at night OR I can move a few of the other chicks in with them so that when I merge them all they won't be isolated and picked
on. Currently, they are not being picked on by the others. Any advice would be appreciated.

It's better to wait until the little cockeral is roughly the same size. The bigger one is most likely to beat up, and possibly kill, the baby.

They might be okay to sleep together at night. Can you partition their run or pen so the deformed ones are still able to get to food but still be "part of the flock"? Another option is to put more than one or two feeders out. If all the pullets are getting along, you might be able to strengthen them but just more food options.
